The tariff saga continues between the United States and China, with new updates as of December 12, 2019. After much deliberation, and months of negotiations, the two countries have agreed to what is being called a “Phase One Trade Deal.”
It (tentatively) looks like it. On Friday, October 11th, President Trump announced that the tariff increase set to go into effect October 15th will be delayed, after the United States and China reached what Trump calls “a very substantial Phase 1 deal.”
Trade relations between the United States and China in the last year have been tense, to say the least. U.S. President Trump increased tariffs on Chinese made goods, such as machinery and components, earlier in the year, but just after U.S. and Chinese representatives met to discuss trade relations between the two countries, he announced a new 10% tariff on even more Chinese exports.
